Iliodora Margellos was born in Minneapolis, USA in 1985. She graduated from Yale University in 2006 with a B.A. in Art and subsequently studied photography and printmaking at Columbia University School of the Arts, whilst interning at Peter Halley’s studio in Chelsea, New York, until 2007. Seeking to further develop versatility in her work, she continued to study drawing at the Salzburg Academy of Fine Arts. Margellos currently lives and works in London. Iliodora Margellos’ work involves found objects, drawings, painting, textile banners, sculpture and performance. She has also produced and participated in collaborative projects with site-specific and sculpture installations. Her work has been recently exhibited in galleries and international fairs at ReMap 4, metamatic:taf Gallery, ART-ATHINA 2013 by a.antonopoulou.art., Batagianni Gallery, TAF the Art Foundation Gallery, CAMP Contemporary Art Meeting Point, the City of Athens Technopolis, the Historical Memory site ‘Korai 4’ of the National Insurance Mansion in Athens, ART-ATHINA 2011 in ‘Project Greek Island*’, the Athens Open Studios, ROOMS 2009 by Kappatos Gallery, the Dipylon Theater production ‘Her Step’ in Athens, the Casa Internazionale delle Donne in Rome, and Louise Bourgeois’ Sunday Salons held at Bourgeois’ Residence in Chelsea, New York. She is represented by a.antonopoulou.art Gallery, where she recently held her first solo exhibition.
